Douglas Mace founded the firm in August 1990 and has the principal responsibility of management of the staff in the efficient and timely production of all services, meeting client's time constraints, while applying strict quality control to insure that all designs and associated services meet the highest professional standards.
Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Mace was associated with two other firms including, since 1970, the firm of Cherry, Mace, Weber and Associates, P.C. at which he successively held the positions of Chief Engineer, Vice President, and Executive Vice President. During his tenure at the predecessor firm, Mr. Mace had performed, as well as supervised, the engineering design and project management of many private real estate projects and public works projects as well as municipal engineering functions. This experience included design projects for roadways, site grading and drainage, sanitary and water supply facilities, traffic analysis, environmental impact statements, and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
Mr. Mace's planning experience includes participation in and the preparation of several municipal master plans, drafting of five comprehensive municipal land use ordinances while functioning as Board Engineer and Planner for five Planning Boards. In addition he has planned a number of land developments.

Mr. Perna has been with Mace Consulting Engineers since January 2006. Prior to his engagement with this firm, Mr. Perna was self-employed for 30 years providing design, construction and management of residential, commercial and industrial buildings. He also coordinated the design and approval of both major and minor subdivisions, as well as the construction of single-family homes. As such, he has been involved in planning, preparing applications, layout, design and construction. In addition, he has managed the design and replacement/remediation of structural members in residential buildings.
During this 30 years of self employment, Mr. Perna also performed as a structural consultant to various engineering firms, agencies and individuals which involved working on an underground pump station building, box culverts, retaining walls, sanitary water storage tanks, highway grade separation structures, timber access bridges, underground vaults, overhead sign structures, foundation design of buildings, pedestrian bridges and design of acrow bridges and launching details. Mr. Perna has also been retained for expert testimony, supervision of construction of roadways and structures, preparing reports on structural adequacy of public and private buildings and structures and performing structural design of building members.
Prior to starting his own business, Mr. Perna was employed by James P. Purcell Associates for six years where he served as project manager for structures and was responsible for preparation of budgets, manpower requirements and client contact. Immediately after college Mr. Perna worked for Goodkind & O‘Dea for three years as a design engineer with emphasis on structure studies, layout and preliminary design, final design and detailed checking of structural contract drawings.

Mr. Zorn has been with Mace Consulting Engineers since November 2002. Prior to his engagement with this firm, Mr. Zorn worked for Robert E. Berry Surveyors, Inc. from 1988 to 2000 as a crew chief, overseeing the field crew performing property surveys, topographic surveys, site plan, flood elevation surveys and deed research. Mr. Zorn then worked for John Cilo Associates from 2000 to 2002 performing property surveys, as well as topographic surveys and site plan surveys.
As survey manager his primary duties consist of directing and coordinating the survey department. This begins with the preparation of proposals and cost estimates for surveying services. The various types of surveys that are part of Mr. Zorn’s responsibilities include boundary surveys, topographical surveys and roadway surveys. During the design stage of land development projects, Mr. Zorn oversees the calculation of the lots and units as well as the establishment of easements and property descriptions. During the construction phase, Mr. Zorn oversees the survey department during construction stakeout and cut sheet preparation. He also is in charge of obtaining legal documents particular to land surveys, writing of legal descriptions, and communication with clients.

Robert L. Shandor is currently head of the materials testing department at Mace Consulting Engineers. Mr. Shandor has been associated with the firm since September, 1999. He has had several roles with the firm, and is currently head of the materials testing department. Currently, he is performing more design duties, including soils analysis and septic system design. He also assists as party chief for large boundary surveys.
Prior to engagement with the firm, Mr. Shandor worked as manager of a family owned fire sprinkler contracting company. In this capacity, Mr. Shandor was responsible for bidding projects, managing field personnel and maintaining quality communication with suppliers, clients and other trades, in order to complete the projects in a timely and cost effective manner.
Mr. Shandor has been licensed in the State of Pennsylvania as a Professional Land Surveyor since May, 1994.

Mr. Wismer has been associated with the firm since June, 1999. As head of construction services with this firm, Mr. Wismer’s duties consist of overseeing and monitoring all aspects of municipal and private construction projects including bridge, roadway and site development. This position involves inspection of concrete infrastructure, asphalt paving, pipe and utility placement, earthwork and general site improvements to ensure compliance with plan documents and specifications. In addition, Mr. Wismer is responsible for preparing various forms and vouchers for municipal contracts with and without state funding. He also reviews plans prior to bid to assist in plan quality control.
Prior to his engagement with the firm, Mr. Wismer was the Division Manager for the Mt. Bethel Construction Division of Eastern Industries, Inc. where he managed day-to-day operations for a crew of approximately thirty employees. In addition he prepared proposals for various projects.
Prior to this position, Mr. Wismer was the Vice President and General Manager for five years at Hummer Asphalt, Inc. of Belvidere, NJ. This position included supervision of twenty-five employees and complete charge of construction, engineering and estimating. (The assets and employees of Hummer Asphalt, Inc. were acquired by Eastern Industries, Inc. in 1997.)
Previously Mr. Wismer was Vice President and General Manager of Penn Jersey Paving Materials of Mt. Bethel, PA for twelve years, where his responsibilities included complete charge of all operations including engineering and estimating. (Mr. Wismer purchased Penn Jersey Paving Materials in 1987 and sold it to Ciccone and Sons in 1992).
Additionally, Mr. Wismer was associated with Dow Britton Construction, Inc. as Vice President and General Manager including supervision of twenty-five employees. Prior to this engagement, Mr. Wismer was associated with Warren Paving of Stewartsville, NJ for fifteen years, beginning as an equipment operator. During this time he learned all aspects of bituminous concrete manufacturing, stone and gravel manufacturing and road and bridge construction. He was then promoted to Construction Project Manager where at least three projects were under construction at all times. (Projects completed in this position include sections of Route 78, Route 31, Route 287, Route 80, Route 46, Exxon and Hoffman-LaRoche.) His responsibilities in this position also included supervision of all construction personnel and equipment.
