Mace Consulting Engineers in Phillipsburg, New Jersey

Company Overview

The people at Mace Consulting Engineers (MCE) take pride in their work, which can best be described as meeting the client's needs through creative, cost effective and timely solutions. This introduction to the firm is an overall view of the company and its philosophy. We encourage you to page through our Personnel Section to view each individual's accomplishments and experience.

Founded in 1990 by Douglas M. Mace, MCE began with a staff of five people, which has grown through the decade to twenty people and has an expanded line of services. The offices are located in professional and pleasant working environments in Phillipsburg, New Jersey and Easton, Pennsylvania. The formation of the firm was an outgrowth of the firm of Cherry, Mace, Weber & Associates, where Mr. Mace had been associated since 1970 and 1985, respectively.

Professional Services Currently Provided

Close ties with several sub-consultants provide additional areas of services, most notably in the areas of geotechnical engineering and environmental services.

The employees at MCE define success as making the project work for the people involved: beginning with the client and extending to others who use the facilities, such as residents and users of the facility. In addition to designing, in order to satisfy the needs of the clients and users, we strive to design a desirable and comfortable facility for people, all within the framework of proper design standards and regulations.

Currently, design and project management of private subdivisions and site development projects comprise 35% of MCE’s work, while governmental engineering and planning functions comprise 50%. The remaining time is miscellaneous work, including surveys and related allied services.

Size Isn't Everything

At MCE, no project is too small or too large. For example, residential development projects completed by the firm have ranged from simple driveway plans and one-lot minor subdivisions to Planned Residential Unit Developments consisting of 700 units. Similarly, boundary and topographical surveys have ranged from 1/4-acre homeowner lots up to 700-acre properties. Small projects are given equal weight to the larger ones, as we understand it is not the size of the project that is important but the individual client’s need to complete the project efficiently and conscientiously.

Matching Strengths

Since its inception, MCE has been dedicated to a policy of matching an individual's strengths and capabilities with the particular work function he or she is performing. The size of the firm and the expertise of the individuals therein have been selected with this policy in view. The result of this policy is that a client will benefit from the economics of the proper individual performing the function of his expertise. This policy also requires that engineers and technicians perform the normal design functions while the principals make the major design decisions and administrate the project. Overall policy direction is provided and Douglas M. Mace, P.E., L.S., P.P., President supervise day-to-day operations. Coordinating with Mr. Mace is:

Vincent J. Perna, P.E., Project Manager
John M. Zorn, Survey Manager
Robert L. Shandor, P.L.S., Design Professional
William E. Wismer, Construction Services Manager

We look forward to working with our clients in turning ideas into reality.
